Dr. Issam I. Raad is a renowned expert in healthcare-related infections and infections in cancer. He served as the National President of the American Lebanese Medical Association (ALMA) from 2013 to 2024 and is currently a member of its Board of Directors and Executive Committee, as well as the Head of the sub-committee for humanitarian and medical relief.
Dr. Raad is an Endowed Distinguished Chair and Professor of Medicine, having chaired the University of Texas MD Anderson's Department of Infectious Diseases, Infection Control, and Employee Health for 21 years (2000-2021). He has co-authored CDC and IDSA Guidelines on intravascular catheter-related infections and served as an Advisory Reviewer for the United States Congress report on antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

He founded and presides over Health Outreach to the Middle East (H.O.M.E.), supporting over 15 charity clinics and hospitals in the region. Additionally, he established the Worldwide Institute of Medical Education (WIME), providing global health-related education.
