Dr. George Nassar earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1988. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Following a two-year tenure at the Medical College of Virginia, he relocated to Houston, where he now practices nephrology at the Texas Medical Center. He also serves as a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital and Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Nassar is well-published and has been recognized with prestigious awards from the National Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology. He is married to Amal Zakhem, originally from El-Koura, Lebanon, and they have two daughters.
Active within the Lebanese and Arab communities in Houston, Dr. Nassar has been a dedicated member of the American Lebanese Medical Association (ALMA). In 2006, he served as President of the Arab American Medical Association (AAMA) Houston Chapter and has long been the Secretary of the Lebanese Fellowship Club, an affiliate of the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese Americans.
Dr. Nassar and his wife are ardent supporters of various humanitarian, educational, and cultural initiatives across Lebanese, Arab, and American communities. They have chaired numerous events, including banquets, galas, musical performances, and beauty pageants, benefiting organizations such as ALMA, AAMA, AUB, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Lebanon Times Magazine.
