The Los Angeles Chapter of the American Lebanese Medical Association has been conducting a medication drive for the past few months to provide much needed relief to the Lebanese people. On August 4, 2020, after the Beirut Port explosion rendered 300,000 people homeless, countless injured, and severely overwhelmed the hospitals and depleted their supplies, we knew that our impact needed to be much more expansive.
After much deliberation, we decided to collaborate with the Middle Eastern Pharmacy Association (MEPHA) to benefit the relief efforts. We created a go fund me page, and raised over $20,000 to purchase thousands of various medications, diapers, formula, surgical instruments and PPE items. Our first shipment was directed to Rafic Hariri University Hospital, who has been in dire need of supplies since they have absorbed the majority of the Covid-19 patients, as well as explosion victims.
Our long term goal is to continue to supply much needed medications, supplies, and PPE to various hospitals and/or NGOs working directly with the Lebanese people.
