The American Lebanese Medical Association proudly announces the accomplishment of it project with the Bhannes Medical Center.
The Bhannes Medical center is located in Dahr El Sawan in the Metn region. It was built on a 4km2 of green forest at an altitude of 1,000 meters and 20km from Beirut. The Sisters of the charity built the center in 1908. It served mainly people with Tuberculosis whom were rejected by their families. In 1975, with more medical centers and hospitals needed to treat the injured of the civil war BMC became a full operating hospital.
Early in 2011 A.L.M.A. started a project to send some electric beds to the Bhannes Medical center for the handicapped. The discussion of the project started with Mr. Michel Chahine, executive director of the Medical Center, and his medical staff to determine the urgent needs of the hospital specialized unit for the handicapped. After visiting the center in August 2011, the actual execution of the project started with urgency and dedication. Working with few organizations, mainly Giving Children Hope, and with the help of some fund raising efforts throughout the spring and summer of 2011, A.L.M.A. was able to deliver thirty Invacare fully electric beds to Bhannes Medical center in the first week of February 2012. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who helped make this project a reality.
