A Silent Auction

A silent auction for the transport of hospital beds

On February 5th, 2011, the Los Angeles chapter of the American Lebanese Medical Association (ALMA) joined the House of Lebanon (HOL) and the International College of Beirut (IC), for a social gathering and a silent auction to raise funds to help in the transport of electrical beds to Lebanon. The meeting was held at Beverly Hills Country Club and it was a success with a capital “S”. The executive committee of ALMA, Doctors Paul Wakim, Chairman of the board, Ray Hachem, National President, Joseph Hasrouni, National Treasurer,and Mike Kreidie, L.A. chapter president and National president elect, joined the executive committee of the HOL to welcome the IC Alumni.

Mr. Mohamed Ahmar, President of HOL Welcomed and introduced John Johnson, president of the IC in Beirut, Moufid Beydoun, V.P. for alumni and development, and Mishka Moujaber, senior V.P. at IC.

Mishka Moujaber spoke to the audience about her book, BALCONIES: a Mediterranean memoir. Mourani’s Balconies is not only a memoir but also a collage of photos, letters, fiction and reportage.

Doctor Paul Wakim, Chairman of the board at ALMA, welcomed the audience and introduced Doctor Ray Hachem and his wife Sandra who flew from Houston, TX to join us in this special meeting.

The Honorable Judge James Kaddo, Chairman of the HOL thanked the 3 groups for their joint efforts to help raise some funds for ALMA to help transport 200 hospital beds to under served areas in Lebanon.
